In the sleepy town of Bugarach, nestled in the rolling hills of southern France, life was simple and quiet. The villagers attended church, swam in the nearby lake, and cast their votes in the upcoming presidential election. But when a news story spread that this tiny town was the only place on Earth that would survive the impending Mayan doomsday prophecy, everything changed. The once peaceful village was suddenly flooded with outlandish strangers seeking refuge from the apocalypse. The mayor, eager to capitalize on the sudden interest, welcomed the newcomers with open arms. As the town's population swelled, so did the absurdity of the situation. A young magician saw an opportunity to perform, a millennarian had a plan for salvation, a boy obsessed with weapons wanted to protect the village, and a scholar claimed to have located the body of Christ underneath a nearby mountain. Amidst the chaos and paranoia, the villagers struggled to maintain a sense of normalcy as the fateful date of December 21, 2012, drew near. Would Bugarach truly be the last place standing, or was it all just a wild goose chase?
