Set against the backdrop of the SS King Alexander's transatlantic voyage in 1922, Brides tells the story of Nikki Douka, a young Greek woman who is sailing to New York to fulfill a marriage contract and restore her family's honor. As she works as a seamstress altering wedding dresses for third-class passengers, she catches the eye of a charming American photographer who is returning from documenting the war in Smyrna. Despite their different backgrounds and destinies, they fall deeply in love, creating tension and drama that threatens to upend their lives forever.
