There's a hint of comforting, chocolate-box, Sunday-night TV here, but it's delivered via such quietly powerful performances and with such hope that it's hard to resist.

Robin Cavendish falls ill from polio in 1958 at the age of 28. Despite being given only three months to live, his spirits improve with the help of his wife Diana. They move Robin home and he meets his newborn son Jonathan. Robin realizes he can't move or speak when the ventilator is unplugged, so he clicks with his tongue to get Diana's attention. With the help of a mobile chair and van, Robin and Diana travel extensively together. Robin returns to the hospital where he first received treatment and donates more mobile chairs to other patients, before passing away peacefully surrounded by family after expressing his love for them.
