In 1982, a charismatic high school quarterback, Brad Roberts, dreams of becoming a pop star despite his successful football career and popularity. He joins forces with an unlikely group of misfits, including a stoner, an ex-figure skater, and break-dancers from the Bronx, to create the first ever boy band. With the help of his mother's new boyfriend, Lou Pearlman, the group faces rejection and ridicule but ultimately learns the value of friendship and following their dreams.
