Birdy

Birdy is a 01984 drama film directed by Alan Parker.Al and Birdy are two young men who grew up together in a tough neighborhood in Philadelphia They both enlist in the army and are sent to fight in the Vietnam War After being severely injured in a helicopter crash Birdy is sent to a mental hospital where he claims to be a bird and refuses to speak or interact with anyone. Al visits Birdy regularly and tries to convince him to come back to reality, but Birdy is determined to stay in his fantasy world. Al becomes increasingly frustrated and feels helpless as he watches Birdy deteriorate further into insanity. In a desperate attempt to reach his friend, Al takes birdy on a wild escapade through the streets of Philadelphia, but birdy remains unresponsive. Ultimately it is revealed that birdy has been living in a dream world and has found a way to cope with trauma of the war. the film explores themes of camaraderie, trauma, and coping mechanisms, highlighting the devastating impact of war on soldiers' mental health. It stars Matthew Modine and Nicolas Cage as Al and Birdy respectively.
