Barefoot Gen

In the final days of World War II, a young boy named Gen and his family struggle to survive in Hiroshima, Japan. Despite the devastating effects of the war, Gen's family manages to find joy in small pleasures and hold onto hope for a better future. But on August 6, 1945, their lives are forever changed when a single B-29 aircraft drops an atomic bomb on the city, killing tens of thousands of people in an instant. Gen miraculously survives the blast, but his family is buried alive under their collapsed home. With the help of a neighbor, Gen finds his mother and newborn sister alive, but his father and sister are killed in the blast. The film follows Gen's journey as he searches for food and shelter for his family, witnesses the horrors of war, and struggles to come to terms with the loss of loved ones. Despite the unimaginable tragedy, Gen finds hope in the resilience of the human spirit and the promise of new life.
