Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans follows the story of Terence McDonagh (Nicolas Cage), a decorated New Orleans police officer who rescues a prisoner from a flooded jail cell during Hurricane Katrina. As a result of his heroic act, McDonagh is promoted to lieutenant and receives a medal for his bravery. However, his injuries from the rescue lead to an addiction to prescription painkillers, which soon spirals out of control into a full-blown drug addiction. As McDonagh's drug use escalates, his personal life and relationships begin to suffer. He becomes estranged from his father, a recovering alcoholic, and his stepmother, an alcoholic herself. He also starts using his position as an officer to bully people and steal more drugs. Despite his struggles with addiction, McDonagh is assigned to investigate the murders of five illegal immigrants from Senegal, who were killed for selling drugs in a gang leader's neighborhood. As McDonagh delves deeper into the case, he must navigate the dangerous world of drug trafficking and corruption within the police department itself. With the help of his partner, Stevie Pruit (Val Kilmer), and a witness, Daryl (Denzel Whitaker), McDonagh races against time to solve the case before his addiction consumes him completely. Will he be able to bring the murderers to justice before it's too late, or will he succumb to the darkness that threatens to destroy him?
