In the gritty world of 1960s Tokyo, a young man named Joe Yabuki struggles to find his place. With a natural talent for boxing, he catches the eye of a former champion turned alcoholic, Danpei Tange. Despite his potential, Joe's rebellious spirit leads him down a dangerous path. He's sentenced to a youth detention center, where he's defeated by a professional boxer, Toru Rikiishi. But Joe refuses to give up. With the help of Danpei's training and guidance, he transforms into a formidable fighter with a devastating cross counter.
