Aravaan

In the 18th century, a group of thieves steal from the wealthy to survive. Their leader, Komboodhi (Pasupathy), befriends Varipuli (Aadhi), unaware of his past. When Varipuli is revealed to be the thief who stole the Queen's diamond necklace, Komboodhi's village is threatened. To save his people, Komboodhi makes a wager with the general: if they provide the thief, the villagers will work for the palace for a year; if Komboodhi provides the necklace, the general must provide rice for two years. Komboodhi wins the wager but learns Varipuli's secret: he is Chinna, a man from a village that does palace and local security. Chinna's past is filled with tragedy, including the death of his lover and the revelation that the king killed his family. Chinna surrenders to the villagers and kills himself, leading Komboodhi's villagers to cease robbing and become guards of places.
