In the thrilling movie Apocalipsur, a group of friends in 1991 Medellín must face the harsh realities of living in a city dominated by drug traffickers and violent gangs. El Flaco, the protagonist, returns to Medellín after hiding in London for several months due to threats against his mother. He is welcomed back by his friends, including Malala, his girlfriend, and Caliche and Pipe. The group embarks on a perilous journey through the city, encountering danger at every turn while reminiscing about their past adventures and sharing their deepest secrets. As they navigate the treacherous landscape, they discuss business and the ongoing war against drug trafficking in Colombia. After passing through a checkpoint where the police distribute pamphlets for the capture of infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar's escape, the group recounts their experiences with the local mafia and law enforcement. Comadreja tells the story of how he was arrested and released and how he and El Flaco were forced to smoke marijuana by a police captain. During their journey, the group listens to their favorite song, Flaco, and stops at cafes to rest. There, Malala confesses that she's pregnant with her boyfriend and considering an abortion after Caliche overhears her conversation with her best friend in the women's bathroom. The tension builds as the gang recalls their past adventures traveling around the city, picking up a transvestite prostitute named Maria Antonieta, and risking kissing her thinking she was a foreigner; Caliche recalls how lonely Flaco was in London walking barefoot through snow; and Pipe has an exciting adventure traveling in his wheelchair, which is towed by the van. While waiting for their flight at the airport whose last stop had been Bogota, they learn that Flaco had passed away in London, so they bring his body back to Medellin in a coffin along with them. On their way home, Caliche accidentally runs over the iguana that had escaped from the van, Marihauna-which Flaco had requested to be his reincarnation should he die, symbolizing their youth's end. Ultimately , he dedicates this film to Carlos Bernal alias Flaaco, who disappeared in Geneva (Switzerland) on 23 October 1991.
