Anton Chekhov's The Duel

In this adaptation of Anton Chekhov's novella, a group of friends are torn apart by conflicting ideologies and personal turmoil in a seaside resort in the Caucasus. At the center of the conflict is Laevsky, a charming but irresponsible man who has run off with a married woman, Nadya, but now wants to leave her. When Laevsky's friend and confidant, Samoylenko, urges him to do the right thing and marry Nadya, Laevsky becomes embroiled in a series of events that lead to a tragic confrontation. Meanwhile, the other members of their social circle engage in heated debates about science, philosophy, and morality. As tensions rise and relationships are tested, the group is forced to confront their own values and beliefs. Will Laevsky find a way to redeem himself, or will his selfish desires tear everyone apart?
