What is Almost Famous about? 
In 1970s San Diego, a 15-year-old boy named William Miller dreams of becoming a rock journalist. Despite his mother's disapproval, William's passion for music leads him to write articles for underground papers. Impressed by his writing, rock journalist Lester Bangs gives him a chance to review a Black Sabbath concert. William flatters his way backstage, where he meets lead guitarist Russell Hammond and veteran groupie Penny Lane. Rolling Stone editor Ben Fong-Torres hires William to write an article about the up-and-coming band Stillwater and sends him on the road with them. As tensions rise between Russell and lead singer Jeff Bebe, William becomes integrated into their inner circle but struggles to maintain his objectivity as a journalist. Penny Lane has taken William under her wing, but their relationship is complicated when her friends are gambled away to another band in a poker game. Dennis, the band's professional manager, charters a small plane so they can play more gigs. However, when Penny shows up uninvited at their New York restaurant celebration, tensions boil over into conflicts between Jeff and Russell that nearly lead to disaster aboard their flight the next day before everyone confesses their secrets mid-flight crises..
