Ally Was Screaming

In this dark comedy-thriller, two friends are faced with a moral dilemma when they find a winning lottery ticket belonging to their recently deceased friend, which legally belongs to her abusive ex-husband. They consider murdering their friend's sister, the executor of her estate, to prevent the ex-husband from receiving the winnings. As they scheme and grapple with their consciences, they invite the sister over for regular visits, entertaining and getting to know her, making their task increasingly difficult. When the sister reveals she is dying of cancer, they think they are off the hook, but the time limit on turning in the lottery ticket leaves them no better off. On the chosen night for the murder, everything goes according to plan until they try to give the sister a way out by revealing Ally's secret and pleading with her not to give the money to her charity. After a fade to black, it is revealed that Seth and Nole did not commit the murder, but the lottery winnings did go to Ally's charity. Despite the outcome, they do not see themselves as triumphant in their morality or ethics, recognizing that the right thing happened to them rather than being done by them.
