Alive in Joburg

In a world where aliens have been living among humans for decades, a bureaucrat named Wikus van de Merwe finds himself infected with an alien substance that slowly turns him into one of the despised "prawns." As he becomes more and more like the creatures he once reviled, Wikus must navigate a dangerous world of humans and aliens, all while trying to find a cure for his condition. Along the way, he discovers that the "prawns" are not the monsters he thought they were, and that the true horrors come from the humans who seek to exploit and oppress them. But as Wikus becomes more humane, herealizes that he may no longer be able to return to his old life.
