About Schmidt

Warren Schmidt, a retired actuary, feels lost and useless after the sudden death of his wife Helen. He decides to sponsor an African child, Ndugu Umbo, and shares his life stories with him through letters. Schmidt visits his daughter Jeannie and her fiancé Randall, but is hurt when he discovers that Randall is not who he seems to be. Desperate to stop the wedding, Schmidt embarks on a journey in his new Winnebago to convince Jeannie not to marry Randall. Along the way, he reflects on his life's mistakes and regrets. Ultimately, Schmidt learns valuable lessons about family and redemption through his experiences with Ndugu and resolves to make amends with Jeannie before it's too late.
