The African Doctor

In 1975, Seyolo Zantoko, a brilliant doctor from the Congo, takes a job in a small rural French village, Marly-Gomont. With his family in tow, they face a difficult adjustment period, as the locals have never seen black people before and treat them with suspicion and hostility. Despite the challenges, Seyolo's exceptional medical skills and dedication to the community eventually win over the villagers' hearts, and they become an integral part of the town. However, their happiness is short-lived as Seyolo is arrested for immigration irregularities just as his French citizenship application is approved. The family's future is put at risk when the mayor who hired him is up for re-election against a rival who wants to replace Seyolo with a French doctor. But with the help of Sivi's talent in soccer and Seyolo's dedication to the village, they are able to convince voters that the Zantokos belong in Marly-Gomont. The film concludes by showing the Zantoko family finally accepted and loved by the entire community until Seyolo's death in 2009.
