This is the story of an isolated Alaskan town that is plunged into darkness for a month each year when the sun sinks below the horizon. In the remote town of Barrow, Alaska, a month-long polar night sets in, and a group of bloodthirsty vampires descends upon the residents. Sheriff Eben Oleson, his estranged wife Stella, and a handful of survivors must fight for their lives against the monstrous creatures. As the days pass, Eben's family and the other survivors take shelter in a boarded-up house with a hidden attic. However, when a blizzard hits, they must venture out for supplies and face off against the vampires again. With ultraviolet lights and Beau's snowplow, they manage to kill some of the vampires but suffer losses too. As the sun begins to rise on Day 30, Eben has become a vampire to save Stella but ultimately sacrifices himself as his body burns to ash in her arms.
