The dark side of suburban conformity comes into focus in this black-comic remake of the 1970s suspense classic, which downplays the horror of the original in favor of winking satire. After moving with her family to the ultramanicured, picture-perfect community of Stepford, Connecticut, former New York City television executive Joanna Eberhart (Nicole Kidman) begins to suspect that something is amiss. What is it exactly that makes the women of Stepford so unbelievably perky? And why are their husbands way too happy?
