Episode 1
45min - Every night when the curtain falls in the majestic red and gold auditorium of the Garnier opera house, the audience is left dazzled. To keep this magical dream factory running, a horde of people buzz around night and day behind the scenes. The company's ballet dancers, among the best in the world, hone their skills non-stop. Among these exceptional artists, the “Etoiles,” are the elite stars. Zoé is one of them – but it looks like her days are numbered. Sébastien, the newly appointed dance director, is threatening to fire her. His unheard of decision – you don't sack an Etoile! – is a political maneuver, but it's not unjustified. There's no denying it: Zoé doesn't have the makings of a principal dancer anymore. Her dancing hasn't been up to par since she took a nasty fall five years ago. She can still burn up the dance floor in the nightclubs where she parties into the wee morning hours, but on the Garnier stage, she's lost her shine. Zoé isn't going to just let herself be pushed aside. She wants a second chance and she's ready to fight for it. She'll work hard to get back into shape, prove she deserves her spot in the company, and show that she's still an Etoile! Meanwhile, Flora, a promising and ambitious young Black ballerina, has just joined the Opera as an understudy. Her first steps with the spellbinding dance company are rather shaky, to say the least, since Flora doesn't know its codes. Valentin, a pretentious young soloist, ridicules her ambitions with a racist quip. Flora realizes that she'll have to overcome more than her share of hurdles on the long and hard road that lies ahead.
