Paddington in Peru - Avis

I may not be a card-carrying member of the Paddington 2 cult, but I’ll heartily agree that the series has been a sublime throwback to the quaint but rousing wonderlands of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, or Mary Poppins.

...thanks to winning performances from Ben Whishaw and Olivia Colman, this trip to the jungle preserves enough of the series’ sweet-natured fun to make it worth the somewhat sticky journey.

Endlessly easy to love with a pitch-perfect Olivia Colman.

...you can take the bear out of South America, but think twice before taking him back.

...there’s more emphasis on his human family, who are now out of their element.

Resettling the meaning of home, with charm and marmalade.

Non-stop fun with surprises aplenty.

It’s all impeccably pleasant...

I adore this Indiana Jones-esque adventure that also made me feel warm and fuzzy.

...offers a welcome return for cinema’s best bear.

...a marmalade sandwich of a movie. 

...delivers exactly what you want from a Paddington movie.

...the bear’s charms are as tasty as ever.

...a fun if forgettable matinee for the whole family to enjoy...

It won’t be remembered as the best Paddington film by any stretch of the imagination, but that’s okay, as that’s a high bar to clear. It still proves to be a trip worth writing home about...
