In a future world, Yuma Tsukumo, a reckless teenager with a passion for dueling, teams up with Astral, a mysterious entity from another universe, to become the greatest duelist of all time. With Astral's help, Yuma learns new dueling skills and embarks on an adventure to find 100 powerful cards known as "Number Cards," which have the ability to control the duelist who uses them. Along the way, they face formidable opponents, including the evil Barians who seek to use the Number Cards for their own nefarious purposes. As Yuma and Astral's bond grows stronger, they unlock the power of Zexal, a fusion of their two souls that gives them the strength to take on even the toughest challenges.
