Inuyasha is a fantasy adventure series that follows the journey of Kagome Higurashi, a high school girl from modern-day Tokyo, who is transported back in time to feudal Japan. There, she meets Inuyasha, a half-demon with the power of the Tessaiga sword, and together they embark on a quest to retrieve the scattered shards of the Shikon Jewel, a powerful artifact that can grant wishes. Along the way, they encounter various demons and allies, including Shippo, Miroku, Sango, and Kirara. As they face numerous threats and challenges, Inuyasha and Kagome develop feelings for each other complicated by Inuyasha's past relationship with Kikyo.
