This film’s best addition to the franchise is Elba as Brixton, a proto-cyborg who has given himself entirely over to the cult’s cause.

After all, what are audiences really here for? They want some banter between stars Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson? Check. They want them to beat each other up a few times? Check.

This is pure sugar rush cinema, offset only by the short, sharp shock of the inevitable brain freeze that comes from slurping it down too fast.

...it doesn’t get more testosterone-fuelled than watching these two man-mountains trade bantz and blows.

When it comes to the cars, 'Hobbs & Shaw' is just as creative as its franchise forebears...
